Eisenhower dollar 1971 (1971–1978) (Broomfield, CO) $25

Sun, 2010-09-05 23:33
Perfect condition in sleeve

Eisenhower dollar (1971–1978)

From 1971 to 1978, the U.S. Mint issued dollar coins with the obverse depicting Dwight D. Eisenhower and the reverse the insignia of the Apollo 11 moon landing, both designed by Chief Engraver Frank Gasparro.[16] The 1976 Bicentennial commemorative design, produced in 1975 and 1976, featured the Liberty Bell and the Moon on the reverse (designed by Dennis R. Williams), while retaining the Eisenhower obverse, and the dual datees 1776-1976. The Eisenhower dollars minted for general circulation contained no silver or gold, but were instead composed of the same copper-nickel clad composition used for the dime, quarter, and half dollar. This made the circulation coins extremely resistant to wear and, like the smaller denominations, they still retain a good deal of shine even when subject to mass usage.
From 1971 through 1976 the Mint also produced dollars composed of 40% silver aimed at the collector market. The 1971-74 issues appeared in brown boxes or blue packages, depending on whether they were proof or uncirculated. Somewhat different Bicentennial sets were produced in the following two years. All issues remain very common.
The coins were never very popular, primarily due to their large size and weight which made them inconvenient to carry and the fact that very few vending machines were designed to accept them. They saw the greatest use in casinos, and one-dollar tokens in United States casinos still approximate the size and weight of the coins. Prior to the withdrawal of the coins, which remain legal tender (and are often still available at banks by request[citation needed]), many casinos did not strike their own tokens, but instead used the Eisenhower dollar.

BIG Lot of Antique/Vintage Collectibles - Nice Items !!! (SW Littleton)

Sun, 2010-09-05 22:36
I have for sale a lot of collectibles, most of them bought at estate sales.. Some may call them antique, some vintage. Whatever, they are really nice!

For $8 each or 2 for $15, the following items:
*** 1. An antique glass oil lamp. This lamp came from an antique shop in West Virginia and is I think from the late 1800s. It has the older smaller cap on the top of the base. No cracks or chips, it is in excellent condition.
*** 2. An old Asian elephant prod, probably from India or maybe Thailand. It is made of wood and brass, with elephants and a lion on it, and it measures just a little over 17" long. An interesting, unique collectible and in great condition!
*** 3. An antique photograph glass paperweight. It is almost 3" in diameter and a little over 1" high. The picture shows three gentlemen in tall hats visiting a ballerina and her attendant backstage. No chips or cracks, very nice!
*** 4. Three old wooden spinning spools from New England. They are about 8.5", 12," and 13" high. These make unique candlesticks!

For $5 each or 2 for $8, the following items:
*** 1. A Wolf Original stone sculpture. This hand carved soapstone sculpture is of two seals on a rock with their necks intertwined. The gold sticker on the bottom says: A Wolf Original / Fait a la main au Canada / Hand made in Canada / The Wolf Sculptures. This sculpture measures 4" high, 3" wide, and 2" deep. It is in excellent condition. Note: These sculptures are pricey on ebay.
*** 2. A pair of vintage bookends, from the 1930s/1940s. The sticker on them says Ornawood, which is similar to Syrocowood. The design is a sailing ship (the Constitution?), and they measure 6" high and 6" wide. The metal bases have old felt on the bottom. In great condition, to be used!
*** 3. The Encyclopedia of Glass Paperweights by Paul Hollister, Jr. Bramhall House, 1969. A great book in excellent condition, quite collectible, and a must for glass paperweight collectors!
*** 4. A lusterware china piece. It is of an elephant on a violin and is 4" long, over 3.5" high, and almost 2" deep. It was Made in Japan.
*** 5. An antique art glass vase, possibly early 1900s. It is clear with milk glass bumps, hob-knob? It measures 5" high and is 4" in diameter.
*** 6. An antique paperweight with an accompanying old photo. It measures 5.5" by 4" and about a 1/2" high, and is a Victorian / turn of the century picture of a woman, hairstyle and dress reflecting the times. On the back it says, very faintly, A.E. Jackson P.O. Box 9, Holliston Mass.
*** 7. A very heavy, very big, and very old tape holder / dispenser. Made of cast iron, painted brown, it is 10" long, 3" wide, and 4" high. On the top backend it says in raised letters TEXCEL TAPE. Great condition and a great conversation piece!

For $3 each or 2 for $5, the following items:
*** 1. A pair of painted, hand carved wood figures. These were bought in 1967 by a US military man in South Korea. They are about 8" high. condition. .
*** 2. A pair of hand carved wood figurines. Bought in South Korea in 1967, but they are probably older and I think are Chinese peasant workers.
*** 3. A vintage lusterware cup and saucer. It is marked on the bottom Japan. It has a wide pink band around the top of the cup and around the outside of the saucer. It is in perfect condition. (not pictured)
*** 4. A planter from the 1940s. 5.5" high, it is of an oriental man holding a basket. It is in great condition with no chips or cracks.
*** 5. Another planter from the 1940s. 4.5" high, this one is a cat in pastel shades of pinks and yellows. It also is in great condition.
*** 6. A little cast iron bucket with a handle, perhaps for a child at playtime.
*** 7. A solid brass swan. An old one and a great paperweight!
*** 8. A Mrs. Potts Sad Iron. Very nice condition! Another great doorstop and a Mrs. Potts!
*** 9.A pair of metal noteholders, from I think the 1940s. These have different base patterns, and one is brass, the other iron, with the brass one being a little taller, almost 6.5" high.
***10.A brass, silver, and bakelite hand mirror for a dressing table. It measures 13" long and is 5" wide.
***11.A vintage P.O. / office tape or glue roller with a wood handle. It is 6" long.
***12.An antique spud wrench tool or possibly an old iron railroad spike, painted black. It is a little over 13.5" long.
***13. An enamelware pot, I think from around the1950s. This double boiler pot is 6" in diameter and 7.5" high. It is in excellent condition. A nice collectible, usable pot! Very collectible and quite usable as well!
***14.Another enamelware pot, also I think from around the 1950s. It is 10" wide (including the handles) and 6" high. In great condition and quite practical!
